Track our progress with our Blog

As you have (hopefully) been good enough to sponsor us, it feels only fair that you can track what we’re up to and how our training is going - and therefore whether we will repay your hard-earned cash with a hard-fought performance on 13 April.
Hello everyone -

Our final communication about the marathon, which already feels like a distant memory - it was, in fact, 4 weeks ago today!

As you may recall we promised that we'd draw a sponsor from the hat and they would win a lovely Dyson DC-16 handheld. Well the lucky winner was Clare Lyons, and we'll be getting the prize to her with good haste and speed. Well done Clare and thank you, again, EVERYONE for your donations.

A quick note that The Childrens Trust are the official charity for 2009 so have a few hundred places available for those of you who are interested in running for them. Not only is it a great charity to raise money for, the marathon is an amazing experience (except for miles 22-24. But the rest, and the afterglow, truly makes up for that...)

Take care and, if the mood ever strikes us to run again, then we'll be in touch! But you are safe for a year or two I think. :-)

Best,
Mark & Carl

ps: We’re still lacking any photos from the day - if you were there and took some, please send them across! Which also means that, for those of you who have yet to sponsor us, there is still time, and time to be in with a shout of the prize too.

The key message I want to impart from this blog, btw, is - WE DID IT. Thank you.

In exactly 3-and-a-half hours we set off on the big challenge. First we’ve got pre-race eating (a small coffee and some toast and jam for Carl; toast and jam alone for Mark), showering and packing to do before heading to Putney Station at 7.20 to begin the journey and join thousands of other runners on Southeastern trains at Waterloo East.

Not much more to say really - except that we look forward to seeing many of you on the course, and to speaking to everyone and letting you know how we’ve done afterwards! If you’re watching it on telly, keep ‘em peeled for us. Here’s hoping the weather holds up!
Mark & Carl

With your help in these last few days we’re confident we can reach it. Do donate if you’ve not already! Just 4 days to go...
